Scarlet was just a serf, lowest on the food chain. She still had her silver collar on and she could not take it off. She could pull and tug but it wouldn't give. If anyone 'normal' tried to pick the lock both Scarlet and other person would get shocked, many people tried and all failed. She was dressed in a deerskin outfit. It went over one shoulder then diagonal right under the other. It stopped just at her knees and showed off her small hourglass shape that most women would kill for and most men drooled over. Though none touched her being that her collar was still on everyone thought she was taken...oh how she wanted that thing off of her so she could be a citizen. She pulled a stool over to the corner of the Inn and placed a cup on the table next to her and strummed her guitar. This was how she earned money...from the kindness of others. She took in a breath before she strummed a few more strings and began to sing.
I have often dreamed
Of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome
Would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I'm meant to be
I'll be there someday
I can go the distance
I will find my way
If I can be strong
I know every mile
Will be worth my while
When I go the distance
I'll be right where I belong
Down an unknown road
To embrace my fate
Though that road may wander
It will lead me to you
And a thousand years
Would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime
But somehow I'll see it through
And I won't look back
I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track
No I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance
And my journey is complete
But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart
Like a shooting star
I will go the distance
I will search the world
I will face its harms
I don't care how far
I can go the distance
Till I find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms...
I will search the world
I will face its harms
Till I find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms
Her voice was like angels, she has a silky smooth voice and her voice was like bells. She was gifted in that field. She paused thanking everyone who gave her money any amount she was happy with. She nodded to everyone and laughed with one older women. Her laugh was like jingle bells. Her eyes where as green as spring time grass and her features here flawless and even glowed a bit. Oh yes Scarlet was very attractive. She looked down at her feet at the little girls who rushed to give her money and smiled as they sat down asking her to play again. She giggled again looking at the baby boy who was sitting with the mother and smiled. She needed to think up a good child song.
A dream is a wish your heart makes,
When you're fast asleep,
In dreams you lose your heartaches,
Whatever you wish for, you keep.
Have faith in your dreams and someday,
Your rainbow will come smiling through,
No matter how your heart is grieving,
If you keep on believing,
The dream that you wish will come true.
A dream is a wish your heart makes,
When you’re feeling small,
Alone, In the night you whisper,
Thinking no one can hear you at all.
You wake with the morning sunlight,
To find fortune that is smiling on you,
Don't let your heart be filled with sorrow,
For all you know tomorrow,
The dream that you wish will come true.
A dream is a wish your heart makes,
A dream is a wish your heart makes,
You Wake with the morning sunlight,
To find fortune that is smiling on you,
Don't let your heart be filled with sorrow,
For all you know tomorrow,
The dream that you wish will come true.
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true
She stopped at the end as people clapped some ignored her but she was just trying to earn money to survive. Some whispered and yelled out a slave should be seen and not heard. Other yelled out she should be working but none knew her past or that she had no master...so she ignored the rude comments.
